Why Are So Many
People Getting
Tickets?

Budgetary shortfalls throughout the state have resulted in a sharp increase in the number of citations being issued by law enforcement agencies. Issuing speeding tickets and other traffic related citations are just one area of increased law enforcement activity that county, city, and state officials embrace as a revenue generating endeavor in their effort to satisfy budgetary shortfalls. For example, in some cases red light camera programs being initiated across the state forecast revenue in excess of $3 million dollars. Drivers are being targeted by law enforcement to generate revenue at your expense and despite the antiquated points system that favors insurance companies.

What Types Of Tickets Do We Handle?

We handle all types of traffic related cases. From driving under the influence to simple speeding, we can handle any traffic related matter. Below are examples of the types of citations we commonly see.

Speeding
Toll Violations
Disobeying Traffic Control Device
School Zone Violations
Failure to Stop at a Railroad Crossing (commercial)
Hit and Run
Racing
Failure to Yield
DUI
DWI
Leaving the Scene of an Accident
Careless and Reckless Driving
Driving While License Suspended Or Revoked
Driving Without Insurance

Why Should I Call An Attorney Over A Simple Ticket That I Can Just Pay?

Responding to a traffic ticket by simply paying the fine will result in points being put on your license by the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles. Insurance premiums can skyrocket after points appear on your driving record costing you thousands of dollars for years into the future. In addition, your license can be suspended or revoked for what appears to be a simple traffic citation. Many people call our office after paying a speeding ticket and receiving a notice from the DMV that their license is being suspended or revoked.

Even if you are eligible to elect the driver improvement course and pay a reduced fine there may be a meritorious defense to the citation which could result in a much better outcome. Simply contact our office and we will discuss with you all your options so you can make an informed decision that is best for you.

Please call or email our attorneys who have been helping people across the state protect their driving privilege since 2004. Before you pay your citation you should know the myriad of consequences that can result from being adjudicated guilty of what seems like a minor traffic infraction.

How Many Points Does a Ticket Put On My Record?

The Florida Department of Motor Vehicles is charged with the duty of maintaining driver history records and accessing points to a person’s license. Below is a table showing the point valuations and a link to the DMV’s website.

Why Should I Hire An Attorney When I Can Represent Myself?

First, we offer a free telephone consultation to explain the entire process of resolving your citation and answer all your questions. Second, most people have a general understanding of the law. But, traffic court is like any other legal proceeding. Individuals who are not well versed in the procedural aspects of navigating through the courtroom are unable to effectively defend themselves. In fact, most of the time watching someone trying to defend their own ticket is painful. Law enforcement officers are professionals and testify in hundreds of cases. They know exactly what they need to say in order to prevail and you need to know how to respond effectively. Third, experience is the key. Recently we have witnessed an increasing number of attorneys who for whatever reason have decided to take traffic cases for the first time. It is like watching a fish out of water. Playing with someone’s driving privilege is unacceptable.

Why Should I Hire An Attorney When I Can Represent Myself?
COMMERICAL DRIVERS

Unfortunately, commercial drivers are ineligible to elect the defensive driving course. We have represented trucking companies, limousine services, heavy equipment operators, and various other professional drivers who must protect their driving record. We actually began our traffic defense work by working for limousine chauffeurs and long haul truck drivers in 2004. We know how points can impact your ability to earn a living.

What Can An Attorney Do For Me?

We will analyze your ticket for deficiencies and determine any legal defenses to the issuance itself, then we will look into the facts and circumstances relating to the current ticket, your past record, and the impact the ticket will have on your future. We always strive to have each and every ticket dismissed. But, this is not always possible. The first priority if dismissal is not possible is avoiding points, reducing fines and costs, and avoiding or reducing any requirement to attend a driver improvement course.

We'll look for every possible way to get your fine reduced and minimize the effect on your driving record. In some cases, we may be able to have the ticket completely dismissed. We'll do whatever it takes to ensure the best possible outcome for you.

How Much Will An Attorney Cost?

You have heard this before; it depends on the type of citation, circumstances surrounding the issuance, and the past driving record. We cannot quote flat fees on the internet because of the vast array of situations that people find themselves. Of course, a reckless driving citation that resulted in a crash with serious bodily injury is going to cost more than speeding five miles over the speed limit. Our prices start at $45.00 and increase from there. We are competitively priced and encourage you to seek quotes from other firms after you call and discuss your case. But, we advise you to be very cautious in whom you hire. Some of the questions to ask a traffic attorney is how long they have been defending people in traffic related cases; when did they last appear in traffic court and what is their success rate.
